United for Life: The Success of Our Blood Donation Campaign – January 2025
On January 24, 2025, at Salum & Wenz, in collaboration with the National Blood Services Center, we held a blood donation day in the city of Asunción. This charitable initiative involved the participation of 35 volunteer donors, whose act of generosity will help save numerous lives.
Campaign Results
Thanks to the commitment of our collaborators and participants, we managed to collect blood bags that, once processed, are transformed into essential components for the treatment of various medical conditions:
- 35 Units of Red Blood Cells: essential for the treatment of hemorrhages and anemias. Their shelf life is 35 to 42 days.
- 35 Units of Platelets: essential for patients with bleeding disorders and oncological diseases, such as leukemia. Its duration is only 5 days.
- 35 Units of Plasma: rich in proteins, used in the treatment of burns, chronic and infectious diseases. It can be stored for up to a year.
Destination of Excess Plasma
The plasma that exceeds immediate needs is sent to blood product plants, where it is transformed into essential medications such as albumin and intravenous immunoglobulin, indispensable for patients with specific medical conditions.
